Hosting a Halo 3 Lan Party? This setup is for you

While browsing through the Gamespot forums, I came across this discussion about whether anyone really has 4 controllers for there Xbox 360. Further down the thread, the forum member MJOLNIR SPARTAN replied saying that he had 3 XBOX 360’s (HALO 3 XBOX 360, XBOX 360 ELITE, and XBOX 360 Pro) and 14 controllers total including the HALO 3 ones. Of course after saying he would post a picture as proof of all of this, many other forum members asked for him to show the goods.

As you can see from the image above, he came through with proof and a pretty nice setup to boot. The cable management isn’t the best, but I turn your attention the nest of 360 controllers on the bottom of the picture. I’ve never seen that many 360 controllers in one place and I’d guess that many of you haven’t either. Of course, in celebration of the release of Halo 3, who out there believes that they can top this setup?

Buying one of the Halo themed controllers is one thing, but all of them? Not many can afford the controllers seen, let alone the rest of the setup. Nonetheless, I solute anyone with a setup like this.

Quick “Halo 3” Impressions

Okay I’m knees deep into the campaign right now and so far, so good. The first level has a lush jungle setting and it’s really eye catching. So far my favorite weapon is the Brute Hammer because nothing beats the feeling of sending a grunt 20 feet in the air after a hit on top of the head. If you’re a Halo fan don’t worry……. the game is good. The weapons are finely tuned and the vehicles are sweet! I used to love to drive the “Ghost” but the Brute Chopper might become my favorite vehicle. I can’t speak for the multiplayer yet because I want to finish up the campaign first but I hear matchmaking is up and running so I hope to try that tonight. Woot!

New Halo live action short is the “new hotness”

Exclusive to Discovery Channel and in promotional of the Discovery Channel “Last One Standing” Halo 3 sweepstakes, comes a new Halo live action short. Saying that it’s clearly the best is a gigantic understatement. So if your unlucky with any of the contests here at The Xbox Domain, then there’s another one for you. Any way, the whole point of this is the video and boy is it nice. Without describing the entire video all I have to say is.

Shoot the “Dang” movie already!

So long Gears of War, we hardly knew ye!

For nearly every week since its release (every week except one to be exact) Gears of War has ruled the haloed ( pun semi-intended) proverbial virtual halls of Xbox Live. It’s found itself in my 360’s DVD drive time after time, even with the thought of more than likely playing with a little kid who hasn’t gone through puberty yet. All games suffer from this in some way, but now that the infamous Halo 3 is only hours or minutes away depending on when this is read, something tells me that Halo’s reputation will without a shadow of a doubt be exactly the same as it has always been when it comes to the same situation. After all, Halo did write the little kid screaming or singing in you ear book.

No more armory clanking to the bodies of COG or the insanely annoying asthma ridden breathing of the locust. No more shotgun blast to the face that result in your virtual counterparts head disappearing in a watermelon breaking sort of fashion. No more crabwalking, backflipping, or chainsawing glitching. Halo itself surely isn’t a stranger to glitching, but time will only tell with how long it takes for it to become rampant once more.

Before Gears of War was the defacto game of choice it was Halo 2 and now that this day has finally come, everything has come back around on itself once more with Halo 3 to take its throne back. With more features and tons more to do, hopefully Halo 3 will so to become my new go to game. Either way, it hasn’t been a full year yet since its release, so I salute Gears of War in all of its glory, good or bad, for we hardly got the chance to know ye. Now get to work on another Epic!
