War World is coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Xboxic has posted that Australian made “War World” will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade smack dab in the middle of 2007.

Here is some brief info on War World

“War World is a planet wide arena dedicated to the art of war. This is the chosen battleground where powerful Mechanized Warriors compete in savage battles to settle age old conflicts. War World features intense combat with 50 different weapons systems from long-range missiles and mortars, through to the brutal, close-action mini gun. Texas Hold’em is getting a facelift

Microsoft has released some information on some new information/fixes which will be implemented into Texas Hold’em this wednesday in a update. I’m guessing this will be this weeks xbox live arcade release??? Bummer

This week on Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, we offer a full-featured update to one of the most popular titles on the service – Texas Hold ‘em. We’ve listened to our community and as a result, a host of features and improvements have been added to Texas Hold ‘em to speed up game-play, eliminate cheating and ensure proper competition. As a result, the online multi-player leaderboards will be reset to eliminate the inflated scores that currently appear. In a future update in early 2007, we’ll be adding Xbox Live Vision Camera support as well.
 
The update will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, November 29, after 0800 GMT (1:00 a.m. PST).

Features
• Game-play has been sped up:
• Post the blind and play right away! – Players can now, if they wish, start playing immediately when joining a table by posting the big blind, rather than having to wait for the blind to come to them.
• New ‘Away’ mode – Players can now set their status to ‘Away’. Hands will be auto-folded and blinds auto-posted until the player returns.
• New ‘Auto-boot’ mode – Players who continuously let the timer expire (more than three times in a game) will be booted from the table
• Faster overall pacing – Timers and messaging durations have been adjusted to speed up game-play among experienced players, but still allow novice players plenty of time to play.
• Improved blind structure – Initial blinds, as well as blind increases, are now more proportional to table stakes, ensuring more meaningful increases during game-play.
• Matchmaking improvements – Players are no longer matched into games they cannot afford
• Improved interface controls – Improvements to controls, such as increasing/decreasing stake amounts
• Leaderboard display – A player’s full winnings and rank are now properly displayed
• Art and text improvements – Game art and spelling issues have been addressed  
• Online exploits addressed – Certain known exploits that enabled cheating have been addressed. As a result, the online multi-player leaderboards will be reset to eliminate inflated scores as a result of these exploits.

Sign up for the “Shadowrun” BETA

Major Nelson posted some details on how you can sign up and possibly be chosen to take part in the BETA for “Shadowrun”.

1. Visit the beta Web site at http://connect.microsoft.com.
2. Click on “Invitations” on the left-side menu.
3. You will need to sign in using a valid Windows Live ID before you can continue to the “Invitations” page. (If you have already registered for the Connect site, skip to Step 5.)
4. Please read and accept the Terms of Use Agreement then follow the instructions to register for the Connect site.
5. Enter your Invitation ID in the blank field. Your invitation ID is: SHBS-6YMT-YKHC
6. Click “Go.”
7. Complete and submit the short questionnaire. Please enter MAJOR1 for the beta code when asked at the beginning of the questionnaire.
8. If you are not redirected immediately to the Shadowrun Beta Selection homepage after completing the questionnaire, click the My Participations link on the left hand navigation bar and then click the Shadowrun program link.  This will redirect you to the Shadowrun Beta Selection Homepage.
9. Once you are on the Shadowrun Beta Selection Homepage, you will need to complete the rest of the registration process by signing up for the forums by clicking the Join the Forums button then click the Welcome to the Official Shadowrun Community Forum Sign In button.

Playing Viva Pinata means you’re a girly man?

Sara aka Dirty Diva posted over @ Gamerscoreblog a post asking if some male gamers are ashamed to admit that they play Viva Pinata in fear of being picked on by friends. Or even funnier are some males playing VP on other profiles so it doesn’t show up on their main profile.

Good post Sara and I’ll be the first one to say I play Viva Pinata and like it. Its a cool game and when I want something to do other than chainsawing or grenade sticking I like to relax and take care of my pinatas or even pop in a Burger King game. It’s so childish to think that some male gamers would be ashamed to even admit they play Viva Pinata and its a shame because Viva Pinata is a good game.

 Are any male gamers here hiding the fact they play this game? or are afraid to play this game because they might be picked on by friends?
