RoboBlitz Interview

In this Installment of developer interview I wanted to get some Info on the Xbox live arcade title "Roboblitz" which is being developed by Naked Sky. This game will be the first Unreal Engine 3 powered arcade title and it looks very good.

Here is my Interview with Chief Technical Officer of Naked Sky, Joshua Glazer.

1-Can you tell us about Naked Sky entertainment?

Joshua–We're a self-funded, independent game developer based in Los Angeles.  We focus on developing original IP's for next-gen console and PC hardware. We have a small but very capable team, and one of our specialties is physics-driven gameplay.

2-Can you give us an overview of "Roboblitz"

Joshua–RoboBlitz is a humorous, physics-based action game featuring interactive environments, malajusted baddies, and a host of bizarre weapons. Players take on the role of Blitz, a multi-talented robot entrusted with restoring an aging space cannon that protects his home world. Also this game is Powered by the Unreal Engine 3.

3-How long has RoboBlitz been in development?

Joshua–Eight Months

4-Can RoboBlitz be compared to any other game?

Joshua-"metal arms" meets "Mario Sunshine" meets Physics.

5-Will this game have LIVE Multiplayer and CO-OP?

Joshua-Yes, Multiplayer will come in an expansion.

6-How many Microsoft Points will RoboBlitz cost?

Joshua–1,200 Points.

7-What type of achievements will you be able to Unlock in RoboBlitz?

Joshua-There's your basic set for beating certain levels, collecting certain items and breaking certain scores. A few are pretty hard though for one of them, you have to beat the game using only your starting stun gun. It's a tough task, but it provides a lot of replay value by changing gameplay: Instead of just blowing baddies up, you have to find clever ways to dispatch them-like smashing them into a wall, tossing them into a shredder, or dropping them in a lava pit.

8-How has it been using the Unreal Engine 3?

Joshua–It's been a good experience. However, it's been quite an adventure getting a UE3 game to fit under the 50 MB Xbox live arcade limit. Luckily we have some tricks up our sleeves that help us pull it off and keep the game looking fancy.

9-When Will RoboBlitz be released?

Joshua–Very Soon!!

10-What type of gamers is RoboBlitz directed to?

Joshua–Gamers of all types. It's as kid friendly as Mario, so we're looking at a wide potential age range.

11-Is Naked Sky working on any other titles for the xbox 360?

Joshua–Not at the moment.

12–What are your thoughts in general of Xbox Live Arcade?

Joshua–It looks like it might be a great distribution platform for indie developers. It'll be exciting to see what kinds of innovative titles come out over the next few years.

13–Any last thoughts for gamers out there?

Joshua–We put our heart and souls into this project, so we hope you'll enjoy the game!

Thank you Joshua and Naked Sky. Check out The Official Robolitz website @ www.roboblitz.com

  1. […] You can check out the whole interview here […]

  2. 1200 points and you that doesn’t even come with MP….that’s gonna be a tough sell.

  3. dude, it looks like this is gonna be the first UE3 game to come out!! man, given the value, 1200 points is cheap! i’d pay 1600 for it!

  4. […] Keep in mind that this is unsourced, so take it all with a grain of salt. Especially the 800MP price of RoboBlitz could be considered a surprise since the CTO of developer Naked Sky explicitly stated a few days back it would be 1200MP. […]

  5. […] I just want to remind you all that you can download the full/demo versions of the new arcade title “Roboblitz” from the xbox live arcade. The main selling points of Roboblitz you ask? well it’s the first arcade title developed using “The Unreal Engine 3″ aka the “Gears of War” engine. The game currently has no online multiplayer but if you Remember my interview with CTO Joshua Glazer he said that multiplayer will be coming in an expansion later on. […]
