Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is still not selling like a Wii or DS over in Japan, but you have to admit that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is selling far better than the first black box. Bill Gates said in a recent interview that he feels that Xbox Live will still play a vital part in the 360’s future success in Japan.
Product share varies from country to country. In the US and the UK, the share [of Xbox 360] is high, but besides Japan, there are other areas we haven’t penetrated. From now on, I think the breakthrough’s going to be the online service, and you’ll be surprised if you look at that.
Just by looking at how Nintendo runs their shoddy online play, you can tell that online play is still not a big factor in Japan. Maybe by some luck of the draw the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live can really Breakthrough in Japan…. somehow.
