XBLA’s Goldeneye was blocked by Nintendo? Ya don’t say!

Kotaku started today with a real hot rumor. According to Kotaku, the Xbox Live Arcade version of Goldeneye 007 was killed off by Nintendo’s Boss Satoru Iwata. Here is what Kotaku posted:

Sources within Microsoft who were very close to the project (and who also pointed us towards the above, alleged screen) have told us the game was canned not because of disagreements between the two parties, but because of Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata, who believes that, as a title which appeared on a Nintendo console, GoldenEye shouldn’t be made available on a competitor’s system.

Can you really blame Iwata? He feels that Goldeneye 007 is a Nintendo property and he doesn’t want it on Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The picture above(according to Kotaku) is a screenshot from the Xbox Live Arcade version of Goldeneye 007.

  1. This has nothing to do with you guys, but it’s just weird to see Kotaku yet again not credit anyone for a story that clearly was started elsewhere… not even mention the supposed insider on Penny-Arcade’s forums that handed out the shot?

I really don’t like that site.

  2. i really dont like nintendo right now….lol

  3. I really don’t like any of the three. Problem is all 3 have this F the consumer policy.

  7. “Sources within Microsoft… have told us…”

Take it with a grain of salt, guys. Sounds like somebody’s just jealous.
