CES: 10 million Xbox Live subcribers and more HD content announced

During Microsoft’s Bill Gates’ last CES keynote last night, the gaming portion of the keynote is what delivered (?) for Xbox 360 owners obviously. With the Xbox 360’s 17 millions consoles shipped to date, the Xbox Live subscription user base has reached the new high mark of 10 million. Coming six moth’s earlier than projected, broken or not, Xbox Live is running gangbusters anyway you look at it.

Along with the subscription numbers rising, is the HD content available on the video marketplace. ABC and Disney will be bring some of it’s content this month in the terms of Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical. Huge news for certain segments that can’t get enough of Hannah Montana and especially High School Musical even if you may not want to admit it. Also added to the mix is Sony owned MGM, who will be bring Dances With Wolves, The Terminator, The Silence of the Lambs, and Rocky.

As far as the IPTV solution that was announced at last years event, British Telecom (BT)will be the first partner to release a service using the Xbox 360 as a set-top box later this year. No other details are yet known, as well as no mention as to when it will hit other shores.
