Rumor: Xbox 360 Ultimate on the way

In a flurry of Xbox 360 related rumors this one seems to take the cake. According to GameIndustry.biz Microsoft is poised to announce a new Xbox 360 coined (after the bloated OS) Ultimate. It will have a 320 gb Hard Drive which will help with its IPTV features and a HD DVD Drive inside the console. It will also have internal wifi and the cooler 65nm cpu. Everything lines up but what I am wondering about is the price.

  1. Good luck MS. but internal wifi and a better designed mother board should have been there at launch.

  2. I look forward to this. I’ve been holding off on buying an Elite because I was hoping for an internal HD-DVD drive and larger HDD. Internal wifi should have always been there, but the cost benefit (especially for those without wifi) was a wise choice. If it comes in at under $400, I’m sold.

  3. Great. Another SKU.

  4. yet another rip off idea to incorporate what should be in a standard console.

  5. I think new SKUs are important to the evolution of the console and the advancement of the brand. If the Ultimate really does exist then it will replace the Elite at 450, The Elite may become the Premium at 350, and the Core/Arcade gets a Hard Drive at 279.

Now when GTA comes out the load times wont hurt late adopters, these are the people Microsoft wants to appeal to. But in the end the early faithfuls gets screwed every time.

I am torn after saying all this. I am making the presumption this is to drive some lumbering danger (Sony) away by being competitive. In reality can the PS3 really make a come back? At this point I believe the console war is decided.
    1. Wii
    2. 360
    3. PS3
